Add a Domain to Cloudflare

Abstract

If you have purchased a domain via a registrar other than Cloudflare (for example, through Porkbun), you can still manage it through Cloudflare and take advantage of their services. Here’s how to do it:

Create an Account at Cloudflare

1. Create an Account

   • Visit Cloudflare and sign up for a free account if you don’t already have one.

2. Add Your Site

   • Navigate to the Websites section.
   • Click on Add site.
   • Enter your domain name (e.g., example.com) and click Continue.

Choose a Plan

• Cloudflare offers various plans. For most personal or hobby projects, the Free plan is sufficient.

• Select the Free plan and click Continue.

Update Nameservers

To point your domain to Cloudflare, you need to update your domain’s nameservers with your registrar:

1. Log in to your registrar account

2. Determine your registrar via WHOIS if you are unsure.

3. Remove Existing Nameservers

4. Delete the existing nameservers listed in your domain settings.

5. Add Cloudflare Nameservers

6. Replace the old nameservers with the ones provided by Cloudflare.

   • Nameserver 1: (Copy from Cloudflare)
   • Nameserver 2: (Copy from Cloudflare)

7. Save Your Changes

8. Save the new nameserver settings.

Verify Nameserver Changes

1. Check Nameservers
2. Return to the Cloudflare dashboard and click Check nameservers.

3. It may take some time (typically 10-15 minutes) for the changes to propagate.

4. Confirmation

5. You will receive an email once your site is active on Cloudflare.

Manage Your Domain via Cloudflare
